- ORIGIN AND JUSTIFICATION: |
| ------
The celebration of a Chapter of Mats dates from the times
of Francis of Assisi and it came - as a tradition - till our
times. So it should be adequately modernized. In the present
historical moment, in which the world clams for peace and
fraternity, we feel the need of an event that could bring
back the hope and universal peace to our conflicted world.
So, during the General Chapter held in 2004, our Congregation
approved the proposal to hold a Chapter of Mats of the Franciscan
Sisters of Penance and Christian Charity, aiming to strengthen
the fraternal bonds to cultivate our spirituality and to live
intensively our charisma through the sharing of our hopes. |

- GENERAL PURPOSE: |

"To congregate the
Sisters of the different Provinces of the Congregation, aiming
to revitalize our spirituality and charisma. |
| 3.1
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: |

To strengthen our mutual relations as Sisters of several cultures;
------b)
To share hopes and dreams for the future;
------c)
To further and experience the inter-religious dialogue, while
committing ourselves with the building up of peace. |

for the Central Commission.
